Rose Carrig, Tarbert
IT WAS with shock and sadness people of the parish learned of the death of Mrs Rose Carrig (nee Mangan) Doonard Upper which took place unexpectedly at her residence on November 10, 2006. Rose a kind and generous lady was born 83 years ago and was one of fourteen children of the Mangan family of Dooncaha. And down through the years she was the main family link for the Mangan and Carrig families. Rose was well known for her hospitality and always welcomed everyone with open arms to her home. Over the years she entertained relatives home from England, U.S.A., Australia and just four weeks prior to her death relatives from New Zealand were delighted to learn about their great grand parents when they paid her a visit. Rose was very knowledgeably and there was none better to trace relations. Yet she loved the simple things of life, going shopping, cooking, making homemade jam and going to the village Mass on Saturday night. In former years she regularly helped out in homes where people were preparing for the station mass. There was a very large attendance at the removal of the remains from St Mary's Funeral Home to the nearby church and again at the funeral Mass Celebrated by the very Rev, Fr Francis Nolan P.P., family members participated in the readings, prayers of the faithful and taking up the gifts and reflection. The Senior Choir provided the Music Ministry and rose would have been very proud of the beautiful singing that accompanied her final mass in the chapel she had so religiously attended down through the years. Rose was predeceased by her husband John in 1977 and her son Buddy in 2000, she is survived by: her son Val (Manchester), John (Tarbert), Stevie (Longford), sisters: Margaret (Tarbert) and Philomena in Nottingham, Brothers: John (London), Eddie (Ballylongford), Brendan (Tarbert) and Kevin (Connecticutt), Daughters-in-law; Madeline, Eileen and Mary, Grandchildren; Eileen, Rose Ann, Stephen, Loraine, Rosemary, John and Catherine, Great-grand children, Nieces, nephews, Brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law relatives and a large circle of friends to whom our deepest sympathy is extended.
