Please forgive the intrusion, but I am inquiring about an ancestorwhom I believe served in Mater Hospital as a nun. Her name wasEnright, born ca. 1870's; from County Kerry (I believe Ballylongford).If you can refer me to how I can find any information about her, Iwould be grateful. Born: 1874 in Ballybunion, Co. Kerry
Baptised: Brigid Enright
Parents: Cornelius and Mary

Entered the Dublin Sisters of Mercy 1895
Received her Novitiate training at the Sisters of Mercy NovitiateHouse, St. Catherine's Carysfort Park, Blackrock Co. Dublin (nolonger there)
Received the Religious name - Sister Mary at her Reception Ceremony -when she was formally received into the Congregation and commenced herNovitiate training, usually after a period of 6-9months spent as aPostulant.

apologies for the delay in responding.

I have been in touch with the following places to try and assemblewhatever
information I could get about Sr. Mary Enright:

Mercy Central Archives, Catherine McAuley Centre, Herbert St. Dublin 2
Mercy International Centre, Baggot Street, Dublin 2
Mercy Provincial Archives, Booterstown, Co, Dublin
Provincial Administration, Naas, Co. Kildare - re. her place of burialetc.

I think that I have got as much information as is probably availableabout
her. The only other vague possibility is that they might ask "TheKerryman"
newspaper if they ever published an Obituary about her when she died?

I think that is as far as I can go.

Celebrated her Golden Jubilee of Profession 1948
Died (suddenly) in the Convent of Mercy Baggot St. Dublin June 4th1949
Funeral took place to the Community Cemetery at Goldenbridge,Inchicore, Dublin 8 [She is buried in row 5, number 13 in the oldCemetery]

Known to be a very prayerful person and a very gentle person

No records have been kept at the Mater about the Sisters who worked orlived there - the reason was probably because the Hospital was beingadministered from the Generalate House (Baggot St. up to 1903 andafter that Carysfort Park, Blackrock Co. Dublin until about the mid1950s)
